Getting to Paraguay from Europe is expensive. There are only direct flights from Spain, otherwise you have to go via Brazil or Argentina.   Expect to pay around700GBP

(1100USD) for a return flight. There is a reasonably efficient network of buses that travel within the country, and they are very cheap. There are no trains, and the road network is poor - even main roads tend to be two lanes only, usually full of lunatic drivers determined to prove their manhood by causing as many accidents as they can. As drink driving is virtually compulsory, driving can be hazardous! Local bus services are frequent and cheap - though as drivers share the obsession for getting from A to B as rapidly as possible, bus journeys can be a little hair-raising. Taxis are plentiful and cheap, though confirm the fare at the start of the journey as foreigners are fair game for the usual taxi scams.
