Murcia has always been a very safe city. There is no drunken violence and very little street crime. There was a problem with drug addiction which meant that siesta time could be dangerous as the addicts were prowling

for money for their next fix, but I never had any problems. The most dangerous thing about Murcia is the traffic. Be careful driving into and around the city, especially at night, as the roads are lethal.
