About an hour on the bus from Katowice in Oswiecim is Auschwitz - Birkenau, the infamous concentration camp, now a museum. It is the most impressive mueum I have ever visited and I would urge any visitor to the region to go there, though it is not for the faint of

heart...

Krakow is only 1.5 hours from Katowice and is a delightful city, full of all the things Katowice doesn't have.
